August Reflections

Every month deserves a little looking-back, and August gave me a lot to sit with.
This month I finally broke a silence I'd been carrying since 2022 — Natural T With The Tea came back to the mic, and it came back with something I needed to say as much as I needed you to hear it: Prune What No Longer Serves You.
I didn't expect one metaphor about pruning shears and a leggy pothos to open up as much as it did. But that's usually how it goes — the smallest, most ordinary moments end up holding the biggest lessons, if you're paying attention.
A FEW THINGS THIS MONTH TAUGHT ME
The stem that isn't blooming isn't failing. It's just done. I said this on the episode, and I've said it to myself in the mirror more than once since. Some things don't need to be mourned as failures — they were real, they served their season, and now they're finished. That's not the same as wasted.
Pruning requires precision, not violence. Letting go doesn't have to look like scorched earth. You can release something without pretending it never mattered.
New growth needs the room you're afraid to make. This one is still working on me. I don't think I fully believed it until I watched it happen in my own plants — and slowly, in my own life.
WHAT WE BUILT TOGETHER THIS MONTH
- The episode itself, with a proper re-introduction after the gap (thank you for being patient with me)
- The blog post that started the whole conversation
- A TikTok video turning the pruning metaphor into something visual
- An Instagram carousel breaking the episode down into small, sit-with-it pieces
- Pinterest pins so this could find people who needed it outside the usual feeds
- So many of you telling me what you're pruning this season — I read every single one
WHAT'S COMING IN SEPTEMBER
We're not done with this conversation. Letting go is only half the story — the other half is what actually grows back. September's episode, What Grows After You Let Go, picks up exactly where we left off: sitting in that uncomfortable, quiet space after the cut, before anything new has shown up yet.
New episode drops Sunday, September 6th. I'll see you there.
Until then — steep slow, and grow on purpose.
